This trip gives you the chance to enjoy an exciting Underwater Sea Walk adventure, followed by a visit to some of Mauritius’ main sights of the North region and ending the trip with an authentic lunch at Tante Athali restaurant. Discover the wonders of the tropical Northern part of Mauritius with its charming aspects, laden with history; cultural and scenic views. Witness the magnificent marine life of Mauritius, the beautiful fauna, corals, and a wide variety of fish, all in their natural habitat! Embark for an amazing undersea walk activity, unique, safe and fun it is a simple form of helmet diving which requires no underwater skills or training to enjoy.

The trip will start with a dive from a platform which is moored just inside the lagoon reef in 3-4-meter depth of water. You will be taken from the shore to the platform by a transfer boat. Once on board you are given an explanatory briefing on how the undersea walk is performed and then get ready to discover the exciting adventure of walking under water.

Followed by a photostop at the very well known village chapel with its red roof, offering a magnificent view on the Gunner's Quoin and other islands in the surrondings.

We will then take you to one of the famous attraction of the island, The Pamplemousses Botanical Garden, known worldwide for its large collection of indigenous and exotic plants, including the giant Victoria Amazonica water lilies and Talipot palm trees. The visit will end with a local traditional lunch situated in the heart of a 19th century family property in an open-sided building, reminiscent of a garage with a collection of vintage cars, with its tin roof and artifacts from a previous era.

Tante Athalie is a wonderful place to be with great food, great people, great service and great atmosphere!  Tante Athalie prepares memorable Creole cuisine in an idyllic setting. The restaurant offers lunch, served Monday through Saturday from noon to 3 p.m.

Starter:

 

  • Prawn River scented with Indian spices
  • Crispy brown toast and flacks of cucumber and mint

 

Main course:

 

  • Thin slices of roasted chicken supreme marinated with Tandoori spices
  • Pickled eggplant, flacks of fresh cucumber with mint leaves, preserved lemon a creamy coconut and cumin rice

  • Cap Malheureux:  The northern edge of Mauritius has stunning views out to the islands off the coast, most obviously the dramatic headland of Gunner's coin. Cap Malheureux is a place of great historical importance for Mauritius: it was here that the British invasion force finally defeated the French in 1810 and took over the island.

  • Pamplemousses Botanical Garden: The Pamplemousses Botanical Garden, formally known as Sir Seewoosagur Botanic Garden, is one of the most visited attractions in Mauritius. The garden is located in the proximity of Port-Louis in the district of Pamplemousse. The botanical garden stretches over endless acres of land and it may take you more than a week to cover the whole garden. It is populated with more than 650 varieties of plants among which are the famous Baobabs, the Palmier Bouteille, the ineluctable Giant Water Lilies, dozens of medicinal plants, a large spice garden and many more. One of the main attractions of the botanical garden is the 85 different varieties of palm trees brought from different corners of the world. Other indigenous species of plants are also exhibited here.
